The body is our instrument of life, is designed to do diverse physical activities, from the most basic as breathing to the more complex movements that make great deal of effort , flexibility and coordination.
I think that very often , in our activities development, mind and body are not effectively communicated. Whereas the actions of one affect the other and vice versa, synchronization and communication are both important to achieve physical and emotional balance .
Then how important is to know our body... As an example, right now , we could asking ourselves: How do we feel our posture? , How is our breathing ? , How is each element of our body? Are we relaxed / tense / excited?
Oriental Dance, among many other benefits, provides the ability to find a way to body awareness. The movements are among its main features the naturally: they are fluid, harmonious and balanced. This organic feature contrasts with the speed and stiffness of our daily routine, experiencing the change since the first dance class.
In this process of recognition, we rely on some necessary concepts such as position , weight, centre, shaft , pelvic floor, muscles , etc. . and get growing knowledge about ourselves , our abilities and limitations, understanding, accepting and appreciating them as part of us. A taught movement is assimilated in a different way for each person, because we have different body structure, perception, learning and experiences, the difference is then welcome.
Every body is unique and valuable, knowing is loving it ;)... So let’s hug it, hear it breathing, walking and dancing!
